The Three Rivers Public Library District is now accepting applications for the position of Youth Services Librarian. The ideal candidate will be flexible, approachable, a self-starter with exceptional customer services skills, able to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to customer service.
Under administration of the Library Director, this position is responsible for operation of the Youth Services Department. Duties include: collection development for birth through high school; planning and implementing programs for birth through high school; creating and implementing departmental goals; scheduling departmental staff; representing the library at the system level.
Essential skills include: knowledge of children’s literature and child development; demonstrated ability to tell, read and interpret stories for children; ability to set priorities, make decisions, and exercise discretion with patrons and staff; ability to prioritize work, meet established deadlines, and attend to detail as appropriate; knowledge of library practices, procedures and technologies; ability to deal courteously and diplomatically with patrons and colleagues; the ability to remain calm in difficult situations and the ability to bend, stoop, lift and carry items up to twenty pounds. This is a full-time position requiring day, evening and weekend hours.
MLS preferred; three years experience working with children; two years supervisory experience; access to transportation. Starting salary is $38,000 DOQ, plus benefits.
