A trashformation is a sculpture created from recycled materials! The contest, run annually by the Grundy County Land Use Department, teaches kids to appreciate natural resources as they learn about recycling and the environment, as well as the idea that something that is typically thrown away can be used to create art. Sculptures were judged by artistic expression, the amount of recyclable items used, and originality/naming of the sculpture.
This year, one of the winners is from our community, 5th grader, Milo S. Check out Milo's cool underwater scene, titled "Ocean of Dreams", made from 29 recycleables.
Students were recognized during the April Grundy County Board meeting. During the meeting, each student was called forward to receive a certificate for their hard work.
Sculptures provided for competition are displayed at the Grundy County Administration Buildings for the rest of April (Earth Month).
