Basic Program Guidelines

How to register

You can register for most programs directly via our events calendar.

  • Click on the event you are interested in.
  • If registration is required, click register.
    • If you have a Three Rivers Library card, you can autofill some information using your library card number (no spaces or dashes) along with your pin (default- last 4 digits of your card number) and click Find Details.
  • Enter the required information, indicated with a red asterisk. Click Register.

Some program, such as bus trips that require payment, may require you to call or stop in the library to register.  Please contact the library if you have other questions about registering for programs, via email at [email protected] or by phone at 815-467-6200.

General Registration

  • Registration is required for each program, unless otherwise specified.
  • To register for a program, visit the events calendar or contact the library directly.
  • Recurring programs require a separate registration for each day, unless otherwise specified.
  • Most programs that require registration must meet the minimum enrollment of 5 registered for the programs to occur. If a program has different requirements, it will be noted in the description.
  • Program registrations may close up to one week prior to the program to allow for preparation.
  • Registration for programs generally opens on the Monday following the release of our mailed newsletter at 10am.  No early registrations will be taken.
  • Each person attending for the program must be registered individually.

Waiting List

  • When a program fills, further registrants will automatically be put on a waiting list.
  • If there are cancellations or space otherwise becomes available, those on the waiting list will be moved to the registered list, in the order that they registered.
  • If you are on the waiting list and space becomes available, you will be notified when you are moved to the main list of registrants.

  • If you have registered for a program, but will not be able to attend, you need to cancel your registration.
  • All programs require a 24 hour cancellation notice.  If you do not cancel at least 24 hours in advance, you will be considered a no-show.
  • If a program is cancelled, you will be contacted at the phone number you gave when registering

Adult Program Specifics

  • Registration is required for each person attending.  If there is more than one person coming, please sign-up each person, including of age children, separately.

  • Children 10 and under are not permitted at any adult programs unless otherwise specified.
  • Paid programs, such as bus trips, will require signup in-library only, with payment due at the time of registration
  • Bus Trips
    • Payment is due at the time of registration.  Registration is in person at either library location.
    • A waiver must be signed for each participant.  Those under 18 years must have a waiver signed but a parent of legal guardian, and those under 16 years must be accompanied by an adult.
    • Please refer to our bus waivers for refund information.
    • Food is allowed on the bus, excluding dairy items.  Drinks must have a lid or be a closed container.  Orange drinks, milk and alcohol are not allowed on the bus.

Youth Programs Specifics

Please note that there will be some exceptions to the information below.
  • Most youth programs only require the child and/or teen to be registered. However, some "Family" programs will require both the child & their adult or family members to also register. This will be noted in the event details. Each person must register individually. Please do not put more than 1 person's name on a single registration form.

  • Storytimes run in 5-6 week sessions, followed by a 1-2 week break. Attendees may register for all dates in a storytime session, or individual dates.

  • Walk-ins: If registration for a youth program has closed, and you would like to know if there is space available to attend as a walk-in, please call the library. In some cases, youth programs that require registration will note in the event details if they will allow walk-ins. When walk-ins are allowed, it will be up to our space's capacity, supply limits and/or staff discretion.
  • We encourage members of our community to add their child and/or themselves to the waitlist when they see a youth program is full. When we see a high level of interest in a program, we may decide to open additional spaces or offer another session. While we cannot guarantee our capability to do this for all events, your registration helps our staff offer more of the kinds of programs our community would like to see!

If you would like to suggest a youth program idea, please email the Youth Services Manager at [email protected]. All youth program/event suggestions will be given consideration, but are not guaranteed to be added to our program line-up.
